Stainless Steel Coil Tube for Heat Exchanger Applications

Product Overview

The Stainless Steel Coil Tube (SCT) is a precision-engineered tubular component designed primarily for integration into coil-type and shell-and-tube heat exchanger systems. Manufactured by Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd., this product series is engineered to deliver superior thermal transfer efficiency, mechanical durability, and corrosion resistance under demanding industrial operating conditions. The coil tube geometry enables compact heat exchange surfaces with high surface-area-to-volume ratios, making it ideal for applications requiring intensive heat dissipation or absorption within constrained spatial footprints.

Unlike conventional straight-tube configurations, coil tube assemblies leverage the inherent turbulence generated by fluid flow through curved geometries, significantly enhancing convective heat transfer coefficients. This product line adheres to international standards governing pressure vessel and heat exchanger components, ensuring reliable performance across a wide range of thermal, chemical, and mechanical service environments.

Manufacturing Process

1. Raw Material Procurement & Inspection

Hot-rolled stainless steel strip or seamless tube stock is sourced from certified mills with full chemical composition analysis (per ASTM E415 spectrographic analysis) and mechanical property verification. Each incoming lot undergoes visual inspection, dimensional verification, and non-destructive testing (NDT) including ultrasonic testing (UT) for internal defects and eddy current testing (ECT) for surface discontinuities.

2. Cold Drawing / Cold Reduction

Tube blanks are cold-drawn through precision tungsten carbide dies to achieve the required outer diameter and wall thickness tolerances. This process enhances mechanical properties through strain hardening, increases surface finish quality, and ensures dimensional consistency. Multiple drawing passes may be employed for tight tolerance requirements.

3. Heat Treatment (Solution Annealing)

Cold-worked tubes undergo solution annealing at temperatures between 1040°C and 1150°C, followed by rapid water quenching. This process dissolves carbide precipitates, restores full austenitic microstructure, maximizes corrosion resistance, and relieves residual stresses introduced during forming.

4. Coiling / Forming

Annexed tubes are formed into precise helical coils using CNC-controlled coiling machines. The coiling process maintains uniform bend radius, consistent pitch, and controlled spring-back compensation. Critical parameters monitored include:

5. Surface Treatment & Finishing

6. Quality Inspection & Testing

7. Packaging & Dispatch

Finished coil tubes are individually wrapped in moisture-resistant protective film, placed in wooden or steel crates with adequate cushioning, and labeled with full traceability documentation including heat number, specification, test certificates, and dimensional data.
