Stainless Steel Coil Tube (盘管 / Coil Tube) — Technical Specification

1. Product Overview

The Stainless Steel Coil Tube (盘管, Coiltube) manufactured by Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd. is a precision-engineered tubular product designed for thermal exchange applications in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This product is specifically engineered to meet the demanding requirements of dry coil systems (干盘管系统), where latent heat removal and sensible cooling capacity correction are critical performance parameters. The coil tube is formed from high-grade stainless steel wire or strip, wound into a continuous helical or serpentine configuration, and supplied in coil (盘管) form for downstream fabrication into fan coil units (FCU), air handling units (AHU), and other heat exchange assemblies.

In dry coil system design, the cooling capacity of the fan coil unit must be corrected to account for the separation of sensible and latent heat loads. The stainless steel coil tube serves as the primary heat transfer surface, and its geometric and material properties directly influence the coefficient of heat transfer, pressure drop, and overall thermal efficiency of the system.

4. Manufacturing Process

4.1 Process Flow

  1. Raw Material Inspection: Incoming stainless steel wire or strip undergoes spectroscopic analysis (OES) and mechanical property verification per ASTM A270 / GB/T 12771 standards.
  2. Wire Drawing / Strip Cold Rolling: The raw material is drawn to the precise outer diameter and wall thickness specification through multi-stage cold drawing with intermediate annealing (at 1050–1100°C in a controlled atmosphere furnace) to relieve residual stresses.
  3. Pickling & Annealing: Post-drawing tubes are subjected to acid pickling (HNO₃/HF mixed acid bath) followed by annealing to restore the full austenitic microstructure and achieve the required surface finish.
  4. Coil Winding (盘管成型): The straight tube is wound onto a precision mandrel using a CNC-controlled coil winding machine. The winding parameters (pitch, diameter, number of turns) are programmable to meet specific heat exchange design requirements.
  5. Fin Application (if finned): Aluminum or stainless steel fins are expanded onto the coil tube using a hydraulic fin-expansion machine, ensuring uniform fin-to-tube contact without mechanical deformation of the tube wall.
  6. Hydrostatic Pressure Testing: Each coil assembly is pressure-tested at 2.5× the maximum working pressure for a minimum dwell time of 60 seconds to verify leak integrity.
  7. Heat Exchanger Performance Testing: Representative samples undergo air-side and water-side performance testing in accordance with ASHRAE Standard 34 (Rating Methods for Air-Curtain Units) and ARI Standard 430 (Unitary Air-Conditioning and Air-Heating Equipment) to verify cooling capacity, total pressure drop, and COP (Coefficient of Performance).
  8. Final Inspection & Packaging: Each coil is visually inspected, dimensionally verified, and packaged with moisture-absorbing desiccants in protective cartons or wooden crates for export.
