JIS G3459 Stainless Steel Coil Tube for Piping Applications

Product Overview

The JIS G3459 Stainless Steel Coil Tube is a precision-engineered continuous-length pipe product manufactured in compliance with the Japanese Industrial Standard JIS G3459 — the authoritative specification governing stainless steel piping for general fluid transportation and plumbing systems. Produced by Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd., this coil tube is delivered in continuous coiled form, offering superior material utilization, reduced welding joints, and enhanced structural integrity compared to cut-length alternatives. As a general-purpose piping solution, it is widely adopted in Japanese-origin construction projects and across the Southeast Asian market, where adherence to JIS standards is a contractual and regulatory requirement.

Material & Properties

JIS G3459 designates specific stainless steel grades suitable for piping service, primarily including:

Key mechanical and physical properties conform to JIS G3459 requirements, including minimum yield strength, tensile strength, elongation at fracture, and hardness limits as specified by grade and nominal outer diameter.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Raw Material Selection: High-purity stainless steel billets or flat strips conforming to JIS G4305 (for seamless) or JIS G3131 (for welded strip) are procured with full chemical composition verification.
  2. Piercing & Hot Rolling (Seamless Route): Billets are heated to 1,100–1,200°C, pierced into hollow blooms, and hot-rolled to approximate final dimensions.
  3. Forming & Welding (Welded Route): Cold-rolled stainless steel strip is formed into tubular geometry and welded via Electro-Resistance Welding (ERW) or Automatic Submerged Arc Welding (AW).
  4. Precision Sizing: Multi-stand cold sizing ensures dimensional accuracy within JIS G3459 tolerances.
  5. Solution Annealing: Tubes are heated to 1,050–1,150°C in a protective atmosphere furnace and rapidly cooled to achieve full solution treatment, dissolving carbides and restoring austenitic microstructure.
  6. Pickling & Passivation: Acid pickling removes scale and oxide films; subsequent passivation establishes a protective chromium oxide layer.
  7. Coiling: Finished tubes are coiled at controlled tension onto standard-diameter coils with protective strapping and moisture-barrier wrapping.
  8. Quality Inspection: Each coil undergoes chemical analysis, dimensional verification, hydrostatic pressure testing, and visual/eddy-current inspection for surface and wall defects.
