Stainless Steel Coil Tube – Vertical Bright Annealing (BA) Furnace Process

Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd presents a premium-grade stainless steel coil tube (Coil Tube / 盘管) manufactured through an advanced Vertical Bright Annealing (BA) Furnace process. This technology represents the pinnacle of surface quality and metallurgical uniformity in stainless steel tubing, making it the preferred parent material for high-end Electropolishing (EP) tubes and mirror-finish tubes. The vertical configuration eliminates roller contact, ensuring a flawless surface finish with superior dimensional consistency.

Product Overview

The Vertical Bright Annealing (BA) furnace process is a specialized heat treatment technique applied to stainless steel coil tubing after cold drawing or cold rolling. Unlike conventional horizontal BA furnaces that utilize roller conveyor systems, the vertical BA furnace employs a gravity-driven suspension mechanism where the coil tube hangs vertically within the annealing chamber. This eliminates all mechanical contact between the workpiece and the furnace components, resulting in:

This process is exclusively reserved for applications demanding the highest surface integrity, including pharmaceutical-grade tubing, food processing equipment, optical components, and semiconductor manufacturing lines.

Manufacturing Process

Process Flow

  1. Coil Slitting & Cold Drawing: Raw stainless steel strip is slit to width and cold-drawn into tube form using precision PLC-controlled drawing dies, achieving tight dimensional tolerances.
  2. Coil Winding: The drawn coil tube is wound onto a precision-mandrel coil former with controlled tension to prevent deformation and maintain dimensional integrity.
  3. Vertical Bright Annealing: The coil is suspended vertically in a high-purity protective atmosphere furnace (typically N₂ + H₂ or dissociated ammonia NH₃) and heated to 1,050 – 1,150°C depending on grade. The vertical orientation ensures gravity-driven uniform heat distribution and eliminates all roller contact.
  4. Controlled Cooling: The coil is cooled under continued protective atmosphere to prevent oxidation and scale formation, maintaining the bright, clean surface.
  5. Surface Inspection: 100% visual inspection and automated surface scanning to verify absence of roller marks, scratches, or discoloration.
  6. Packaging: Coils are wrapped in protective film, placed in wooden or steel crates with desiccant for corrosion prevention during storage and transit.
