Hastelloy C-276 Coil Tube (Ni-Mo-Cr-W Alloy)

Product Overview

Hastelloy C-276 is a high-performance nickel-molybdenum-chromium-tungsten (Ni-Mo-Cr-W) superalloy coil tube manufactured by Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd. Engineered for the most demanding chemical processing environments, this alloy delivers exceptional resistance to wet chlorine, oxidizing acids, and a wide spectrum of corrosive media that defeat conventional austenitic stainless steels and even other nickel-based alloys.

The product is supplied in coil (coiltube) form, offering superior material utilization, reduced fabrication waste, and seamless integration into automated tube-forming, bending, and heat-exchanger manufacturing lines. As Item No. 17 in the company's nickel-base alloy product line, Hastelloy C-276 represents the pinnacle of corrosion-resistant tubular solutions for extreme industrial applications.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Raw Material Selection: High-purity nickel, molybdenum, chromium, and tungsten master alloys are sourced from certified suppliers and subjected to spectrographic analysis (OES) to ensure compositional compliance.
  2. Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) / Electro-Slag Remelting (ESR): The alloy ingot is produced via double-remelt processes to achieve ultra-low impurity levels (S ≤ 0.005%, P ≤ 0.01%) and eliminate segregation.
  3. Hot Rolling & Homogenization: The remelted ingot undergoes controlled hot rolling to refine the grain structure and achieve uniform microstructure.
  4. Hot Extrusion: Billet is extruded at elevated temperatures to form seamless tube blanks with precise dimensional control.
  5. Piercing & Sizing: The extruded tube is pierced and sized to achieve the required inner and outer diameters with tight tolerances.
  6. Induction Heating & Coil Winding: The straight tube is induction-heated to enhance ductility and wound onto precision coil reels, ensuring minimal mechanical stress and kinking.
  7. Solution Heat Treatment: The coil tube is solution-annealed at 1100–1150°C followed by rapid water quenching to dissolve all carbides and precipitates, achieving the single-phase austenitic microstructure essential for maximum corrosion resistance.
  8. Pickling & Passivation: Surface oxides are removed via controlled acid pickling, followed by passivation treatment to establish a protective chromium oxide film.
  9. Final Inspection & Certification: Each coil undergoes 100% dimensional verification, hydrostatic testing, and optional eddy-current inspection before packaging and shipment.

Technical Advisory Note

Important: Hastelloy C-276 is not recommended for use in environments containing free nitric acid (HNO₃) at concentrations above 10% at temperatures exceeding 40°C, or in the presence of dry chlorine gas. For mixed-acid applications, corrosion rate predictions should be validated against specific concentration and temperature data. Consult Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd. technical engineering team for application-specific material selection guidance and corrosion rate estimation.
