High-PRENR Stainless Steel Coil Tube — Corrosion-Resistant Seamless Solutions from Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd

Product Overview

Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials Co., Ltd delivers premium-grade stainless steel coil tubes engineered for superior pitting and crevice corrosion resistance across demanding industrial environments. Our coil tube product line is distinguished by a comprehensive understanding of the Pitting Resistance Equivalency Number (PREN) — the industry-standard metric used to quantify and compare the localized corrosion resistance of austenitic and duplex stainless steels.

The PREN index provides a single, comparable value that reflects the combined contribution of chromium, molybdenum, and nitrogen to a steel's resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. By offering coil tubes spanning the full PREN spectrum — from standard austenitic grades to high-performance super-duplex alloys — Wenzhou Jixing enables engineers to precisely match material selection to the severity of the service environment, optimizing both performance and cost-efficiency.

PREN Formula: PREN = %Cr + 3.3 × %Mo + 16 × %N

This formula was developed to standardize the comparison of corrosion resistance across different stainless steel compositions. Each element contributes differently to pitting resistance: chromium provides the primary passive film, molybdenum enhances resistance to chloride-induced breakdown, and nitrogen — though present in small quantities — contributes disproportionately to PREN due to its multiplier factor of 16.

Material & Properties

Our coil tube range encompasses four principal PREN tiers, each calibrated for progressively more aggressive corrosion environments:

Manufacturing Process

Wenzhou Jixing Metal Materials employs a rigorous, multi-stage manufacturing process to ensure coil tubes meet exacting dimensional tolerances and metallurgical requirements:

  1. Raw Material Selection & Ingot Casting: Vacuum arc remelting (VAR) or electro-slag remelting (ESR) of certified billets to ensure chemical composition accuracy and minimize inclusions.
  2. Hot Piercing: Solid billets are heated to 1,150–1,250 °C and pierced to produce seamless hollow rounds, ensuring a defect-free internal structure free of weld seams.
  3. Heat Treatment & Pickling: Solution annealing in protective atmosphere followed by acid pickling to restore the passive chromium oxide film and achieve desired grain structure.
  4. Cold Drawing / Cold Rolling: Tubes are drawn through precision dies or rolled through calibrating stands to achieve exact OD, wall thickness, and mechanical properties. This step is critical for achieving the tight tolerances required in heat exchanger and instrumentation applications.
  5. Intermediate Annealing: Where multiple drawing passes are required, intermediate annealing restores ductility and relieves cold-work hardening.
  6. Final Heat Treatment: Solution annealing at 1,050–1,150 °C with rapid water quenching for austenitic grades; duplex grades are annealed at 1,020–1,120 °C to maintain balanced austenite-ferrite microstructure.
  7. Coil Winding & Packaging: Finished tubes are wound into coils on precision mandrels, protected with anti-corrosion wrapping, and packaged for shipment.
